Have you been feeling drained lately? Sometimes this season of coming off a busy summer, then going right into fall can feel like a lot. I know for me, I just had two very active vacations I genuinely could use a vacation after! And I know I’m not alone in this.
Many women over 40 describe a constant “tired but wired” feeling, it doesn’t matter what season it is. You’re running on caffeine, pushing harder in workouts, or even trying restrictive cleanses, only to feel worse and further away from yourself.
Here’s the truth: midlife energy doesn’t come from extremes. It comes from small, sustainable habits that work with your changing body, not against it. This week, I’m sharing three gentle shifts that can help you start rebuilding energy.
One of the simplest (and most overlooked) ways to support midlife energy is to eat balanced meals with protein, fiber, and healthy fats. This helps stabilize blood sugar, preventing the mid-afternoon crash that leaves you reaching for more caffeine.
Try this: start your day with a protein-rich breakfast (eggs with greens, Greek yogurt with nuts, or a smoothie with protein powder).
In midlife, overtraining with endless cardio can actually backfire by spiking cortisol and leaving you more exhausted. Instead, focus on strength training 2–3 times a week, paired with walking or gentle yoga. This not only builds lean muscle but also supports hormone balance and energy regulation.
Try this: swap one HIIT session for a 20-minute walk outdoors and notice how your energy shifts.
Energy isn’t just about food and exercise—it’s also about creating steadiness for your nervous system. Starting and ending your day with simple rituals helps calm stress and create sustainable energy flow.
Try this: begin the morning with five minutes of journaling or deep breathing, and end the night by turning off screens 30 minutes before bed.
